Location

The house is located in the very emblematic and wellknown Lisbon district of Alfama. The drying clothes hanging from the windows, the narrow and steep streets, the flower pots,  the fado houses... these are some of the trademarks of the most photographed area of Lisbon.

 

Points of interest

Located nearby are the stunning viewpoints of miradouro de Santa Lucía and miradouro de Graça. The historic neighborhoods of Graça, Chiado, Bairro Alto, Bica and Santa Catarina are all walking distance.


A 5 min. walk from the apartment will take you to the Panteão Nacional, that dates back to the XVI century and has a large dome that rises and can be spotted from many places in Lisbon. Inside you will find the mausoleum of some the most important historical Portuguese figures. Just a few steps away is the flea market or 'Feira da Ladra' which can be translated to 'Thieve's market'. Here, people set up their stalls every Tuesday and Saturday and you can find an infinite amount of cheap bargains, vintage articles and clothes, antiques, old books and music discs, electronic equipment, and anything else you can imagine. 10 minutes away, heading towards the centre along the river, you will find Lisbon's gates, known as 'Terreiro do Paço'. Here, let yourself be amazed by the splendor of the largest and most visited square in Lisbon, the Praça do Comercio. Continue up north, and explore the commercial area of Baixa where you will find an array of shops, selling a variety of products, both Portuguese and foreign. Finally, you can have a meal along the river in one of the many restaurants.
